Cologne, Germany

Arrived in Cologne, Germany about noon this afternoon.  Spent a lazy morning sleeping and watching the shore go by as we traveled up the river.  Cologne was a fun little town to walk thru and observed some of the German culture.

Cologne was also a heavily bombed city during WW II due to the industry, businesses and bridges here.  Visited the Dom of Cologne which is a magnificent structure.  The citizens after WW II were more concerned at the time to restoring the Dom than restoring their own homes.  We also visited the city government building where in 1969 John F. Kennedy spoke to the German citizens and misspoke German calling himself a jelly doughnut.

Final spot to visit before leaving Cologne, was the Lindt Chocolate Museum and Factory. Of course a small purchase was required. Hmm....about 10 lbs worth of chocolate to share with a few and the rest Cheryl and I will have to wrestle for.
